A Very Sammie Christmas *Update*

Sammie Christmas

Do to the overwhelming generosity of readers of GNIN and neighbors, alike. The family in need that we had reported on earlier this month had a great Christmas celebration. The parents of the family extend the following gratitude.

“This has been the most overwhelming feeling of joy and happiness that we could ever experience. There are no words to explain the gratitude and happiness that you have given us. Because of you all, my children are happy to live with us in this home. My daughter asked me today if we could have her birthday party at home this year because how fun are house has become…I dont think she could ever realize what that means to us to have our children be proud of where they live and want to share that with others. We have cried more times in the past 24 hours than we have our whole lives. You have all given us a great gift that can never ever be forgotten. Thank you all so very much for a Christmas that will live on in our hearts for the rest of our lives. It is because of all of you that we have newfound faith in the goodness of the world. Bless you all”

Thanks again from the GNIN Team

A Very Sammie Christmas

Sammie

A friend of the GNIN team has become very decidated to a family in need this holiday season. This is not your ordinary family, Samantha, 10 years old, has cerebral palsy and pervasive development disorder. Due to her problems and hard economic times, her family has had a more difficult time than most, this past year. With the holidays right around the corner it would be great if an entire community of people could give a little something to this family. It’s hard to stay positive when life takes you in other directions, but thats what these parents have to do for their children. What if someone could remind them, they are not alone, and people do care?

Aaron McHugh of Pendell Mental Health Hospital is accepting donations to ensure this family has a memorable holiday and keep their hope for the future strong.   Aaron is raising money for a swingset for this family’s yard. This will give Samantha a chance to swing and just feel like a kid. Donations of any amount are being accepted.  Let’s make this holiday season great for everyone, as we are all in this together.

Sincerely,

The GNIN Team

DHS Thanks GoodNewsISNews.com!

Below is this very heart felt thank you from the Department of Human Services in Philadelphia for our donation from the Make a Difference Day Bake Sale.

Good Afternoon,

We want to send this special thank you to you, the Good News is News Team, the volunteers and the precious kindergarten class who baked cookies and pumpkin muffins to sell at your bake sale.

We contacted the social worker for the family and told her your group raised $231.00 and purchased a K-Mart gift card for the DHS family in need. She was so excited, as we were, too.

It is very heartwarming to know there are kind and wonderful people in this world who take the time to make a difference in the lives of children and families in need.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much.

Sincerely,

DHS Communications

Make a Difference Day 2009 Bake Sale hosted by GoodNewsISNews.com

P1010025
Thanks to everyone who came out to support Make a Difference Day 2009 Bake Sale, hosted by GNIN.  It was truely a wonderful day.  People from all over the county came to show their support and chat with us.  We really spread the word and raised over $200, which is going toward a family of 7, whom recently lost their parents and are trying to stay out of the foster care system.  With eveyone’s support we were able to purchase the family a gift card to K Mart where they can buy some winter clothing.

Thanks to the following individuals:
Mrs. Susan and her Kindergarten Class, Heather Prestin, John Morrison, John Peoples, Christi Toth and Tom Dascher, Nicholas Lodise III, everyone who donated, Bill and Karen Rupert for keeping us dry, and RaiseMeUp.org. The GNIN could not have pulled off Saturday without your love and support. Also special thanks to all the people that came out during the rain storm just to support this cause.

Saturday October 24th 2009 is National Make a Difference Day, a national day of doing good.

GoodNewsISNews.com will be hosting a bake sale at Herbert Hoover Middle School, in Langhorne, Pennslyvania from 9Am-2PM. We have teamed up with RaiseMeUp.org, an organization that spreads awareness about foster care throughout the united states, to raise money for a particular family of 7 in the Philadelphia area. If your in the area please come out and support this great cause.

If you’re not in the area, celebrate Make a Difference Day by teaming up with others to do a small project in your community, or even do a good deed to bring a smile to someone’s face. Nothing feels as rewarding as giving back.
